Booklist Review

This heartfelt fantasy romance lightly inspired by Greek mythology is a highly anticipated shojo manga. When Colette, an apothecary, reaches her limit from overwork, she hops down a well that's rumored to be connected to another world to get away from her mounting responsibilities. Her spur-of-the-moment decision lands her in the underworld, where she is quickly tasked with caring for Hades, the god of the dead--someone else who is a bit overworked. The pair quickly bond, and Colette is soon making frequent trips back and forth to the underworld. A sweet slow-burn romance with gorgeous illustration work, Colette Decides to Die is introspective about grief, work, loneliness, and personal determination. Colette is a persistent character who bounds between cheerfulness and exhaustion, and the connection between an overworked apothecary and the god of the dead comes across as quite authentic. This is a fantastic read for those who enjoyed Nina the Starry Bride.
