Subject(s): Genre/Form: Summary: "When two sisters in their twenties go missing while investigating a series of brutal murders committed over two decades before, Kendra Michaels joins the search for the missing women. The sisters' mother was one of the victims, and police seem to have had little interest in actively pursuing the cold case. Armed with the box of photos, videos, police reports and notes gathered by the sisters over the years, Kendra's investigation takes her to nearby Catalina Island, a peaceful hamlet that may be hiding a grim secret. Little does Kendra realize that her search is about to unleash a long-dormant killer on modern-day San Diego. With help from government agent-for-hire Adam Lynch, private eye Jessie Mercado and her sightless childhood friend Olivia Moore, Kendra must unravel the deadly scheme not only to save the lives of the two sisters, but also untold others"-- Provided by publisher.

Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

Kendra Michaels uses her heightened powers of deduction to draw out a serial killer who has not been seen or heard from in over fifteen years.

Chloe and Sloane Morgan were only children when their mother was the second victim of the Bayside Strangler. Now, after spending years trying to discover his identity, the sisters have suddenly vanished. Were they getting too close to the truth? The police consider their interest in the crime to be just a coincidence and have little motivation to pursue the cold case.

Armed with a box of photos, videos, police reports, and notes gathered by the sisters over the years--plus the extraordinary senses from being blind before recovering her sight via a revolutionary surgical procedure--Kendra follows the sisters' trail of clues. Little does she realize that her search is about to unleash a long-dormant killer on San Diego. With help from government agent-for-hire Adam Lynch, Kendra must race to discover the identity of an infamous killer, not only to save the lives of the two sisters but also untold others.

Kirkus Book Review

It looks as if the Bayside Strangler is back in business--and his nefarious designs are by no means limited to strangling. Fifteen years ago, San Diego PD Detectives Todd Williams and Paula Chase's search for Alyssa Morgan, a paraplegic single mother who'd gone missing, ended with the discovery of her hanging in Tecolote National Park. As it turned out, Alyssa would be the second of five young women the Bayside Strangler had killed before mysteriously stopping his work. Now Chloe and Sloane Morgan, the two daughters who'd dedicated their lives to finding out who made them orphans, have vanished as well. There's no way that Kendra Michaels, a music therapist who was once blind and is now hypersensitive, will walk away from an appeal to join the hunt for them. The road to answers is strewn with both obstacles and distractions, from Kendra's continuing romantic pursuit by freelance negotiator Adam Lynch to the murder of Paula Chase, whose retirement doesn't keep her safe from an intruder looking for clues the Morgan sisters have dug up, to the return of the strangler, who seems determined to outdo his earlier tally in the present day. The authors reveal the killer's identity early on, link his criminal enterprise to the shadowy Dayton Group--which has attracted the attention of the former attorney general in Washington--and give him a personal vendetta against Kendra. None of this imparts the slightest heft or urgency to this generic serial-killer-with-highly-placed-government-connections saga. Such a shame that all those women died to so little effect. Pass the salt. Copyright (c) Kirkus Reviews, used with permission.
